For journalists & curators

Linda Farrar is an 80-year-old impressionist oil painter — Louisiana-born, Utah-based — with thousands of paintings, a presidential portrait, and decades in framing behind her. Below is everything you need to write, broadcast, or curate: bio, headshots, story angles, and a direct line.

Short bio

Linda Farrar is an impressionist oil painter, born and raised in Louisiana, now living and painting in Utah. Her body of work spans thousands of paintings — landscapes, portraits (including a presidential portrait displayed in a presidential library), figures, animals, and still lifes — across oils, watercolors, and a long-running practice in picture framing.

She is 80 years old and a survivor of both breast and colon cancer. She continues to paint daily, exhibit at galleries and regional fairs, and ship her work to collectors near and far. Her style is rooted in plein-air observation refined in the studio: layered color, the soft drama of edges at dusk, and a quiet attention to the light particular to a given hour.

Linda exhibits at galleries, juried shows, and farmers markets, and has earned ribbons across landscape, portrait, and still life categories. She lives and works in Utah, where she keeps a small studio and writes letters to her collectors by hand.

After thousands of paintings, ribbons, and a presidential portrait, Linda is taking her work to a wider audience for the first time — in her ninth decade.

Louisiana roots, Utah skies

A Southern-born impressionist now painting in the Utah landscape. Her work carries both: the warm Louisiana light remembered, the open Utah light observed.

Framing, oils, and a life in light

A decades-long background in picture framing shapes how she presents her finished work — color, weight, and how the eye enters a piece.
